Behav­ioral Product Design Explained

What are Silicon Personas?

Silicon Personas are AI-based, virtual target audience profiles generated from aggre­gated and weighted user data. They are used early in the devel­opment process and impres­sively simulate real customers. Through targeted prompting, they provide precise insights into needs, behavior patterns, and pain points – thus enabling a data-driven alignment of product ideas with the actual require­ments of the target audience.

Behav­ioral Product Design delivers a data-driven, robust business case by subjecting product ideas developed with the help of behav­ioral psycho­logical principles and AI to Fake Door Tests.

This allows important key questions to be answered before the final devel­opment of the product idea:

How exactly does Painted Door Testing work?

Painted Door Testing serves to validate your product ideas. Behav­ioral psychology has taught us the following insights about human consciousness: Customers, without actually being in a real decision-making situation, cannot correctly state how they would behave in a certain situation and therefore cannot answer in a survey whether they would buy a product or not. Therefore, it is crucial that the selected concept variants are tested against the real purchasing behavior of customers.

For this, ads are placed on social media platforms or Google, which bring real people in real need situa­tions to real landing pages, which, like the adver­tising materials, were developed based on Behav­ioral Design and with the help of AI. In the ads, customers encounter the product presen­tation of the product ideas and make real purchasing decisions. Afterward, it is disclosed in an appre­ciative and cooper­ative manner that it was a test. Thus, we sell your product ideas – if desired, under anonymous names – to real customers under real environ­mental condi­tions before they have even been developed.

How exactly is the right target audience for my product idea deter­mined?

During Fake Door Testing, ads are displayed on social media platforms or Google. Because the algorithms of social media and adver­tising platforms are optimized for maximizing inter­action with ad banners, they always display our ads where the proba­bility of encoun­tering existing interest is highest. Thus, they accurately identify the optimal target audience, which we can then exten­sively under­stand directly with the help of social media profiles and address later on.

How are the best-performing product idea and product price identified?

During Fake Door Testing, ads are placed on social media platforms or Google, which bring real people in real need situa­tions to real landing pages where real purchasing decisions are made.

During this process, it is deter­mined what click-through rates (CTR) and costs per click the individual product ideas entail. At the end of Fake Door Testing, the exact marketing costs per product order for the individual product ideas can then be deter­mined, and the best-performing product concept can be identified.

With the product idea that performed best during Fake Door Testing, we then proceed to an iterative optimization, where we determine the subtleties of product compo­sition and ideal pricing using the same method­ology.
